Functionality
When you sign in, you are immediately met with a fairly simple screen. You’ll see a templates tab, assets, and settings. Assets are images.
Inside the templates, you’ll find the ready-to-use templates, but you can also start from scratch.
When editing the documents, you are presented with all necessary fields in an easy-to-use UI. The variables are displayed in a hierarchy, with my favorite detail: descriptions. The variables are displayed almost as classes and objects for those familiar with software development.
When adding content or editing the document layout, you simply drag and drop from the options.
The app uses a feature where you can essentially write rules so that certain fields and sections only display when certain conditions are met.
For resources, the platform has made available documentation, blog postings, and a community forum.
Performance
Due to the app’s simplicity, I will be much stricter on the performance. With that being said, I find nothing is slow. Everything on the app is extremely fast for what is offered. I was unable to find any status for the platform on the site so I have no details on the long-term performance of the application.
User Interface
Simplicity is the theme of this review because it is the theme of the app. The app does one thing. And I am a huge fan. Sometimes, I think when companies expand to more and more features and services, the original core of the company can be left behind, which means the original adopters are left behind.
Navigating through the app, everything is labeled intuitively and descriptions are everywhere! It will be extremely hard to sign up for the app and not know what you are doing in the first 10 minutes.
Innovation
As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, there is only so much innovation that can be done on document generation software before it does too much. However, they do a few things that are new to me.
The first is the template creation service. While others will only convert your previously-made templates, Documint will flat-out build it from scratch. And they even claim a 1-3 day turnaround. So, for those who struggle with creativity, this could save you from some of the scammers on Fiverr.
The second thing isn’t an innovative software solution but it is innovative and extremely bold. They have their projects in production plastered on the website with statuses next to them.
I think this can speak a lot to the integrity and accountability of the company.
Versus The Field
Jotform
The Better Rating: 92/100
Highlights:Both companies offer competitive pricing for each tier however, Jotform offers one extra immediate trim.
Documint has everyone beat on streamlining the process of document creation due to the simplicity inherent in the design.
Ease Of Use
Because the platform is so simple, the ease of use is as easy as it gets. If you need documents and you need them fast without hassle, Documint has you covered.
Likes And Dislikes
When deciding on a crucial “like” for myself, I love the simplicity. The app does exactly what it was intended to do. No playing around, just to the point, and reasonably priced.
However, I dislike how the automation is basically outsourced.
At The End Of The Day…
This app, in its current state, is perfect for smaller companies and individuals. The simplicity of the platform makes this a great choice for people that don’t need a full-scale operation of generating documents and also don’t need hundreds or thousands of documents generated a month.
